Monday, June 1, 2020
For Immediate Release

(Sugar Grove, IL)- State Senator and 14th Congressional District Republican nominee Jim Oberweis is leading a group of Republican Kane County elected officials and candidates in a service project to help families in need in Batavia.

“The need is great at this time with unemployment high, and businesses closed or limited by the Governor,” Oberweis said. “We want to bring some help and encouragement to people who could really use it right now.”

On Saturday, June 6th they will distribute free Community Care Packages including food, masks and milk to area residents at Pal Joey’s Restaurant in Batavia at 2030 Main Street (SW corner of Randall and Main) via a drive-thru, no contact, delivery system.

The event will be from 2:00-3:00 PM. The Care Package will include fresh Oberweis Dairy milk, protective masks, hand sanitizer, and assorted food items. There will be approximately 350 bags distributed, until supplies run out.

The group of Republicans in Kane County held two successful similar events in Elgin and St. Charles on May 16. Senator Oberweis also provided milk at drives in Yorkville, Harvey, and Chicago.

Jeanette Ward, the Republican nominee for Senate District 25, was a sponsor of the Elgin, St. Charles, and Yorkville events.

“Families are hurting,” Ward said. “I am glad to be part of a team that can be a blessing to them.”

Cars will arrive at Pal Joey’s and elected officials; candidates and volunteers will place the bags in a popped trunk or the back seat of the car for a smooth and safe
delivery.

The other Republicans who have volunteered and contributed, at press time,
as event sponsors are Kane County Circuit Clerk Tom Hartwell, Kane County Treasurer David Rickert, Kane County Auditor Terry Hunt, Kane County Coroner Rob Russell, State Senator Don DeWitte, State Representatives Dan Ugaste and Keith Wheeler, State Representative candidate and North Aurora Village Trustee Laura Curtis, Kane County Board members Drew Frasz and Doug Scheflow, Kane County Board candidates Dave Brown and Lucio Estrada and Sugar Grove Village Trustee Ted Koch.

The Volunteer Coordinator for this event is lifelong Batavia resident, Dave Brown. He served on the Batavia City Council from 1997-2019 before winning the Republican Primary for Kane County Board District 10 on March 17. He can be reached at Dave@Dave-Brown.com.

Additional sponsors include Caputo’s Market and Deli (South Elgin), Oberweis Dairy (North Aurora), and Woodman’s Grocery (North Aurora).
