May 27, 2020

For Immediate Release

Sugar Grove, IL – The National Republican Congressional Committee’s Young Guns initiative has added Jim Oberweis to the list of candidates deemed to show promise of running a successful campaign.

“Being named to the Young Guns list shows just how much of a priority my race is for the Congressional leadership in Washington D.C.,” Oberweis said. “The pathway to defeating Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House runs through the 14th District.”

The National Republican Congressional Committee added 14 candidates to its Young Guns including Jim Oberweis. Young Guns is a recruitment program led by House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy and run by the NRCC that identifies candidates across the country who embody the principles of the House Republican Conference and show promise of running a successful campaign.

In the 2010 wave election, more than two-thirds of the NRCC Young Guns (62 of 92) were elected to Congress. In 2012, the program helped to elect 35 new Republican Members to the 113th Congress and 45 new members to the 114th Congress.

“I am honored to have the full support of Leader McCarthy and the NRCC,” Oberweis said. “To be named a Young Gun, a candidate must embody the principles of the House Republican Conference and must be in a position to win. I have consistently supported conservative principles and our campaign has proven we can and will be successful in flipping the 14th District back to the Republican side. Being named to this prestigious list is big step forward for this campaign.”
