Sugar Grove, IL – Jim Oberweis has been consistent in speaking out about illegal immigration and the effects these failed Democrat policies have on American citizens, from a public safety crisis, to loss of jobs, to funding free healthcare for illegal aliens. In a newly launched ad, Jim Oberweis demonstrates his consistent support for immigration reform to ensure American citizens are always put first.

The ad comes in the wake of news about Democrat Gov. JB Pritzker’s radical immigration policies. Currently, the Illinois Department of Corrections is ignoring ICE requests to transfer illegal immigrants who are due for release to the Jerome Combs Detention Center in Kankakee, resulting in the release of potentially hundreds of convicted violent felons back into communities across the state.

“Just like Lauren Underwood and Nancy Pelosi, the Governor is embracing the radical left and that is putting every community in the 14th District at risk,” Oberweis said. “I warned a long time ago what radical policies like this would do to our communities. Sadly, this has become the reality here in 2020. The Democrats are releasing illegal immigrants who are violent felons and promising to use American tax dollars to give illegal Aliens free healthcare, it is truly unbelievable.”

Brian McCann lives in the 14th Congressional District. In 2011, his brother Dennis was in Logan Square on Chicago’s North Side. He was an insurance broker and was there to meet a client about 6 o’clock in the evening. As he was crossing Kenzie Ave., Dennis was hit by a drunk driver, who was an illegal alien with a history of criminal offenses. Saul Chavez was inebriated three times the legal limit. Brian’s brother was struck by the car and dragged for an entire city block and died a violent death.

“There is no question that my brother would still be alive if we had common-sense policies here in Illinois,” McCann said. “My brother’s death was a violent and senseless tragedy that could have been prevented. What is happening with these sanctuary state and sanctuary city policies is wrong and our communities are at risk. I am glad Jim Oberweis is taking a stand. It is time we put the safety of our communities first.”
